Newborn Classes
Charlotte
After your baby is born, your life changes overnight. You’re more in love than ever before, are majorly sleep deprived, on a rollercoaster of emotions and have an endless amount of questions. There’s so much you’re all the sudden supposed to know. You took all the baby prep classes, but it feels like no one truly prepared you for this. Motherhood is a whole new ballgame.
But you don’t have to go through it alone. Mom League’s curated curriculum covers all the newborn topics you need to know about - all in one place.
More than that, you’ll find a built in community of other moms going through the same changes that you are. You’ll find an opportunity to learn, laugh, share and unite with other moms. So whether you’re a first-time mom, or you’ve done this before, we welcome you to join us. Every baby and postpartum experience is unique and every mom deserves a squad and a team of curated experts to carry her through.

Courtney Simelton, MSW, LCSW
NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR
Courtney grew up in Forest City, North Carolina. She attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she obtained her bachelor and master’s degree in Social Work. She currently works as a private practice therapist at Southeast Psych, specializing in maternal and perinatal mental health.
After becoming pregnant with her daughter, Courtney quickly realized the lack of support and services surrounding maternal mental health as she struggled with perinatal anxiety. Courtney is passionate about serving women as they transition into motherhood and providing support for the many physical, social and emotional changes.
When not working, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, going on runs and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

Stacia Marcellin, MSW, LCSW
NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR
Stacia J. Marcellin, MSW, LCSW, IBCLC, is a licensed clinical social worker and international board-certified lactation consultant with twenty years of clinical experience, including facilitation, psychotherapy, and consultation. She received a Master of Social Work from Smith College (Northampton, MA) and a B.A. in Elementary Education from N.C. Central University (Durham, NC). Her professional endeavors have allowed her to serve in various environments such as hospitals, educational institutions, clinics, private practice, and the carceral system.
Mrs. Marcellin’s personal encounters with three complicated pregnancies and her professional engagement with new and seasoned mothers experiencing transitional challenges influenced her passion in maternal mental health. Professionally, she integrates that framework into her work as a birth doula, educator, and lactation consultant.
While Mrs. Marcellin fulfills numerous roles, she prioritizes her responsibilities as a parent, partner, and advocate. She adheres to the Malawian proverb, “One finger cannot lift a pebble,” and aims to empower and collaborate with those who embrace this principle. In her work, she strives to cultivate collaborative and peaceful spaces conducive to healing, restoration, and recovery for those she works with and for. She is excited about working with Mom League to support Moms on their postpartum journey.

Lindsay Patton
ADMIN ASSISTANT
After attending the first Charlotte Newborn Series herself when her son was born in 2023, Lindsay is so excited to be an official part of the Mom League team! When she is not running after her 18-month old or tending to her other job as a local Charlotte Real Estate Agent, Lindsay is helping organize and book class speakers and scope out new locations and opportunities for the quickly growing Charlotte Mom League Newborn Series.
“Mom League was there for me during my fourth trimester in a way that I didn’t even know I was going to need. The knowledge and comfort my own Mom League experience brought me was incredible and the group of women (and babies!) I met, are still integral parts of my life today. It is such a joy and honor to be able to work behind the scenes for an organization that I so fully believe in and also help impact other new moms in the Charlotte area.”
