Newborn Classes

Charlotte

After your baby is born, your life changes overnight. You’re more in love than ever before, are majorly sleep deprived, on a rollercoaster of emotions and have an endless amount of questions. There’s so much you’re all the sudden supposed to know. You took all the baby prep classes, but it feels like no one truly prepared you for this. Motherhood is a whole new ballgame.

But you don’t have to go through it alone. Mom League’s curated curriculum covers all the newborn topics you need to know about - all in one place.

More than that, you’ll find a built in community of other moms going through the same changes that you are. You’ll find an opportunity to learn, laugh, share and unite with other moms. So whether you’re a first-time mom, or you’ve done this before, we welcome you to join us. Every baby and postpartum experience is unique and every mom deserves a squad and a team of curated experts to carry her through.

  • Courtney Simelton, MSW, LCSW

    NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR

Courtney grew up in Forest City, North Carolina. She attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she obtained her bachelor and master’s degree in Social Work. She currently works as a private practice therapist at Southeast Psych, specializing in maternal and perinatal mental health.

After becoming pregnant with her daughter, Courtney quickly realized the lack of support and services surrounding maternal mental health as she struggled with perinatal anxiety. Courtney is passionate about serving women as they transition into motherhood and providing support for the many physical, social and emotional changes.

When not working, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, going on runs and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Perrin Jones, LCMHC, NCC, MT-BC

    NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR

Perrin is a “unicorn” Charlotte native. She attended Queens University of Charlotte and earned a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and worked in hospital systems and private practice as a music therapist before returning to graduate school at Wake Forest University and earning a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. As a counselor, Perrin specializes in trauma and is EMDR trained and has a special focus in supporting moms with trauma histories.

Perrin had her daughter, Leighton, in 2022 and experienced perinatal anxiety and depression – the transition to motherhood helped empower Perrin to start her own counseling practice so that she could expand the scope of clients that she works with and find the flexibility in being able to work a job she adores and take care of her child. Perrin is so proud to be a part of Mom League, and her favorite part about it is seeing new moms own their experiences, show up in a real way for themselves, their babies, and one another, and find a sense of connection and support that is so vital to our well-being – especially when we become moms!

Outside of work, Perrin can be seen chasing her strong-willed toddler around, playing tennis with her husband, spending time with her two French bulldogs, doing yoga, making a fool of herself in cardio dance classes, enjoying a Netflix binge every so often, and traveling with a goal to get to every continent in the next 10 years! Headshot picture taken in chilly Northern Norway!

  • Katie Wagoner, MS, EdS, LCMHC, PMH-C

    NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR

Katie was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, but has lived in Charlotte for the last 7 years. She did her undergraduate studies at Samford University and then obtained her Masters of Science in Counseling from UNC Greensboro. She has been working as a therapist since 2019 and currently works with clients at Bareiter Counseling Center. Katie obtained her certification in Perinatal Mental Health in 2022 and has a passion for helping women find confidence and joy in the early stages of motherhood.

When Katie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and trying to keep up with her two precious children! Katie loves cooking, running, and catching up with good friends.

  • Sydney Estes, IBCLC, LISW-CP/LCSW, LCAS, PMH-C

    NEWBORN SERIES INSTRUCTOR

Sydney was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC. She graduated from Clemson University, where she studied psychology, and furthered education by receiving her Masters in Social Work from Winthrop University in 2016.  Sydney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of North and South Carolina (LISW-CP/LCSW), as well as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Perinatal Mental Health Counselor (PMH-C). In her journey as a mental health counselor, she enjoys supporting both individuals and families through a multitude of adjustments and challenges in life, specifically enjoying working alongside women as they adjust to motherhood.

“Being a new mother is all so wonderful and scary at the same time, and having a support group and place to share experiences is so special.”

“Being a first-time mama I was terrified to start my journey into motherhood, and Mom League helped to ease my anxiety. I was very nervous the first class to meet other moms and share my experience however, that quickly subsided with each class.”
